Stromboli’s are savory turnovers that sound Italian in origin, but were in fact invented in the USA in the 50s. They’re crammed with various cheeses, such as mozzarella, and thinly sliced sausages and meats – like salami (although I also add chorizo and parma ham.) Or the meats can be replaced with vegetables – sun-dried tomatoes work a treat. The dough is the same as used when making pizza, which makes the stromboli a rolled up pizza!
